Life is always changing. Did you know that some changes could impact your auto insurance policy and coverage? It’s up to you to let your agent know about these changes so they can help keep you properly protected. We’ve put together a list to help you review your policy and trigger a call or email to your agent if needed. Please use the checklist below:

  • Changes in Household: Family size, marital status, loss of a family member, a new roommate, a roommate moved out, a student leaving for college, a child moved out, etc., basically any changes to the residents or accessibility of your cars to others can impact your insurance
  • Changes in Residence: Address change (you moved), a car on your policy is garaged/kept somewhere other than what’s listed on your policy
  • Loss of Coverage or Coverage Gap: Child turning 26 may no longer be covered on your policy, loss of job-related insurance or company car, new permitted or licensed driver that has not been reported on your policy or to me
  • New Purchases: A new car not listed on your policy, a new RV/trailer, a new boat/jet ski, a new secondary home or rental property, a new motorcycle or off-road vehicle, golf cart, etc
  • Other Life Changes: a job change that reduces or increases miles driven per year, you now use your car to drive to clients, you use your car for uber/lyft or something similar, you now use your car for deliveries or other types of business use
  • Need for changes to your policy limits: Your net worth has changed since you began your policy and you have more to protect against a liability claim against you, you no longer have access to a second car and need to add/increase rental car coverage if your car is in the shop for a covered loss, liability losses can put your assets on the line so double check to make sure your policy limits (liability, medical, uninsured motorists) are high enough for your situation. Adjusting your comp and collision deductibles can provide savings but they need to be the right amount for you.

We hope this was helpful. Please reach out to your agent with any questions you may have.
